Objectives

Analyze, integrate, and critically appraise biomedical, social, and clinical science when caring for patients and populations, and educating others

Obtain a relevant Medical History and Physical Examination considering the patient's clinical situation

Formulate and prioritize a plausible differential diagnosis for common conditions and recommend and defend evidence-based investigations to discriminate between diagnoses, taking into consideration patient preferences

Use clinical information to defend a plausible reasoning argument and formulate an appropriate management and treatment plan for common conditions, taking into consideration the patient’s/family’s cultural context, preferences, identities, goals of care, ethics, and values

Document, organize, and present accurate, relevant information within the appropriate patient and healthcare context

Assist with obtaining informed consent where applicable; identify opportunities for and perform/assist withclinical procedures and counseling; assist with obtaining informed consent where applicable

Recognize patients with urgent or emergent needs, and participate in appropriate interventions and management plans

Demonstrate longitudinal responsibility and accountability for patient care

Identify the need for consultations from generalist/specialist physicians and other health professionals; perform consultation with guidance, recognizing and acting within one’s own scope of practice
